Subscription Count by Age Group (2026)

Gen Z (18-27): 9.6 subscriptions average. Millennials (28-43): 14.2 subscriptions — the highest of any generation. Gen X (44-59): 11.4. Baby Boomers (60+): 6.4. Millennials have the highest count partly because they adopted subscriptions earliest and have had the longest period of accumulation.

The Memory Gap

Our survey asked respondents to list their subscriptions before prompting them by category. The memory gap — the difference between self-reported and verified subscription count — averages 5.3 subscriptions. Annual subscriptions have the highest memory gap (charged once, forgotten in between). Subscriptions under €5/month are the least recalled.

How Subscription Count Has Changed

The average European adult had 4.8 subscriptions in 2018, 7.2 in 2020, 9.6 in 2022, and 11.4 in 2026. Growth has slowed since 2022 — the market is approaching saturation in Western Europe, and subscription fatigue is driving slightly more conscious decision-making among higher-income consumers.
